The swallow's nest on rue Hannong
A journey through Asia, cooked like at home.
Thailand, Taiwan, China, Japan: four cuisines and a deliberately short menu. 30 seats in an upstairs room, and a couple — Sijin & Martin — both in the kitchen and the dining room.
Seasonal cooking, made from scratch
Two paths, one nest
She was born in China, he in Taiwan, to a restaurateur father. They met on the island, then life set them apart: Sijin left to study and then work in fashion in Paris, while Martin opened his own restaurant in southern Taiwan.
The distance weighed on them. Sijin joined Martin, who passed on his craft. Together they dreamed of a restaurant of their own — but Covid changed everything. The newly-married couple chose Europe, and fell in love with Strasbourg: a calm, human-sized city, much like themselves.
After three years learning in the shadow of Strasbourg's kitchens — he in a Japanese restaurant, she working her way up — they took over the former Alma restaurant. Today, in this 30-seat nest, they share an inspired cuisine blending China, Taiwan and Thailand, following their cravings and their memories.
The swallow, their emblem, stands for the nest, family and home — calm and serenity.
